The York Rite is one of the appendant bodies of Freemasonry. York Rite Masonry, which takes its name from the old English city of York, dates back 1744 in the U.K., has been described as the oldest and purest of the Rites. Like other forms of Masonry, the York Rite is not a religion. Nevertheless, it does develop Biblical themes in addition to themes based on the Medieval Crusades. In the York Rite, A Master Mason may become a member of three bodies — actually a group of separate Rites.
To petition to join the York Rite, a Master Mason needs to be a Mason in good standing of a Lodge or a Lodge recognized by the Grand Lodge of Florida. Then you need to fill out a petition. You can fill the petition online below. The Royal Arch Chapter and Cryptic Council are open to Master Masons of all faiths. Only the Commandery of Knights Templar requires preference for the defense of the Christian faith.

Best known for its world renown Shriners Children’s Hospitals, Shriners International is a fraternity based on fun, fellowship and the Masonic principles of brotherly love, relief and truth. Shriners participate in parades and other community events, bringing attention and raising funds to anssist its main charity, the Children’s Hospitals.
To become a Shriner, a man must first become a Master Mason. If you are not yet a Mason, take the first step to becoming a Shriner. You will be working closely with individuals from the lodge as you move forward on the path to becoming a Shriner. Congratulations, you are on your way! Start the process of identifying a Masonic Lodge close to you. To petition membership you can go to the Mahi Shrine website.
